The other day, I was monitoring my Twitter feed and I saw that my great friend Brad Orrison and the whole Orrison family will be featured in an upcoming T.V. show on the Food Network. The show has been taping at the Ocean Springs location of the Shed BBQ and Blues Joint.

(OCEAN SPRINGS) – That quirky barbecue restaurant on Mississippi 57 and the family who run it will be featured on a Food Network series called “The Shed” starting in August.
Shed marketing director Linda “MamaShed” Orrison, mother of owners Brad Orrison and Brooke Orrison Lewis, confirmed Tuesday the series will begin airing on the cable food channel at 9 p.m. Aug. 5. Commercials for the series began airing Monday night, she said.
“Hi, I’m Brad, and I’m the genius behind this awesome barbecue joint,” Orrison says, standing in front of the Original Shed BBQ & Blues Joint and holding his trademark straw hat. They’re not fancy, but all about the food, they say. From the looks of the commercials, they’re all about fun, too.
“I like to blow stuff up,” says one employee, whose Shed shirt identifies him as “Scott.” “We’re just one big happy, crazy, ridiculous family,” they all say at the conclusion of the 30-second spot.
The Shed has also been featured on Food Network shows “Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives” and “Best in Smoke!” as well as “Live! With Regis and Kelly” and Travel Channel’s “Man vs. Food.” The original Shed was built from found materials Brad Orrison collected from dumpster diving while at Ole Miss. The building burned down in an overnight fire Feb. 12, 2012, but has since been rebuilt from donated materials that fit with its Shed-style.
The Orrisons have Shed franchises in Gulfport and Mobile and a line of barbecue sauces and marinades, which are available at select retailers and online at the Shed website.
The Shed recently brought home first place wins in whole hog and poultry at the 36th annual Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Contest, called the Super Bowl of Swine.
The Shed team competed with more than 250 championship teams from 48 states, Canada, Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
