It was love at first sight with the Bobby Flay Grill-To-Table Sizzle Platter grill pan from Kohls. Rich has already reviewed another Bobby Flat Product, and we really enjoyed reviewing it so we knew already that Bobby Flay had some great products.
I loved the look of it, very sleek with the oval shape and high sides – big enough to cover 2 burners, but not overwhelming. I thought it would be able to hold a lot more than my regular, one burner, rectangular grill pan, and i was right. I used it to cook up some delicious sausages from our local German butcher, and normally i would have to cook this meal in 2 batches, but I was able to fit 6 sausages AND the peppers and onions in the pan all at the same time.
The other thing i like about this pan is the deep groves… it is actually like cooking on a grill, but even better since the heat is evenly spread throughout through the bottom of the pan and up through the grill. If Rich hadn’t been watching me cook this on the stove, I think he could have been fooled that it was cooked outside over direct heat – the grill marks were beautiful!
One negative about this piece is its weight – it is heavy, but that is to be expected from (INSERT MATERIAL). There were bigger grill pans by Bobby Flay available, but in addition to liking the looks of this one, i also chose it because it was something i could carry!
Another pleasant surprise was how easily it got clean. I didn’t use nonstick spray on it or anything, just olive oil, so food didn’t stick and it cleaned up great.
