Well after over 2,000 votes for this Year’s BBQ Person of the Year, we are happy announce the winner: Operation Barbecue Relief.

I know that Operation Barbecue Relief isn’t a person, and they should have not been nominated, but during 2012, they have accomplished so much and have become one of the most important Barbecue organizations in America, so it was hard not to recognize all their hard work during 2012.  In the interest of full disclosure I am on the National Board of Operation BBQ Relief, but that had nothing to do with this contest. I got over 10 different people nominating this organization for BBQ Person of the Year.

I would like to congratulate them all their hard work and also for being BBQ Organization of the Year! I would also like to thank all those who voted this year and helped continue making BBQ Person of the Year one of the most coveted awards in the barbecue community.

Stay tuned as in 2013, we are going to be working with the National Barbecue Association in presenting this year’s award! So make sure that you start to take note on who has made a positive impact in the barbecue world!

Here is our profile that we did in early 2012 on Operation Barbecue Relief.
