It looks like Myron Mixon now has a new accomplishment to add to his very long list of barbecue achievements: Mayor of Unadilla Georgia.

On January 12, 2016, Myron Mixon was sworn in as the Mayor of Unadilla the hometown of the barbecue legend. Myron was elected back in November of 2015 by a vote total of 241 votes to his opponent’s 221.

Established in 1890, Unadilla is rich in southern charm, its barbeques, rodeos and stock car races welcoming visitors from around Georgia. According to the 2010 census the population was 3,796 which was up from 2,772 at the 2000 census.

Myron is the chief cook of Jack’s Old South Competition Bar-B-Que Team, and started Jacks Old South in 1996 as a way to promote his families Bar-B-Que sauce, which was made by his mother and father, Gaye and Jack Mixon. Since 1996, Myron Mixon has been the Grand Champion at the World Championship in Memphis three times, in 2001, 2004 and 2007.
